O.E.I.S. complex, also known as Cloacal Exstrophy is a very rare and serious condition with multiple birth defects. The cause is unknown, although some researchers have found there may be a relation to fertility drugs. As of right now there is no known cause. The omphalocele is first. This is a small bubble like protrusion out of the umbilicus. Carters omphalocele was not too large and consisted of small intestines, liver and part of the bowel. Exstrophy of the bladder is next. This means the bladder is on the outside of the body and split into two halves. It is also inside out. Imperforated anus is next, this means Carter's bowels do not go all the way to his anus and he will require an ostomy. This is where they pull part of the bowel through the abdominal wall and make a drainage bag for stool. The spinal defect is next. It is the most serious part of OEIS complex. Carter had two myelocystoceles a tethered and torqued cord. Carter's body may be weak, but our God is strong! We are honored our God chose us to be Carter's parents and we give him all the Glory!
So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
